Leading up to Valentine's Day, I thought I'd talk about some songs with a distinct "LOVE" theme (not hard; there are a LOT of songs about LOVE), thereby proving that German can sound lovely too. 

The protagonist explores some theories about the meaning of life, from philosophers to pop-culture characters, but comes to the conclusion that it's really just about love (and related activities). No matter how many times I hear this song, it always hits me makes me feel like I'm realizing for the first time, "Yeah. It really is just about love."

You can figure out all of the other references through Wikipedia, but to understand what Donald Duck has to do with a bounced check, you need to understand how must Germans know Donald Duck. 
In the USA, we know Donald as a supporting Disney character behind superstar Mickey Mouse. In Europe, however, Donald is himself a superstar, thanks to the unbelievably popular comic series “Lustige Taschenbücher,” (EN = “Donald Duck pocket books”) which focus mainly on the world of Donald Duck, his rich uncle Scrooge and his nephews Huey, Dewey and Louie. A repeating gag throughout the series is that Donald Duck has to do all of Scrooge’s grunt work and rarely gets anything out of it. I think that’s what this line is referring to.
